Juana Gómez

My work arises from the observation of nature and the processes that determine how living beings and the inorganic world are structured and constructed.

This fundamental law can be seen in the veins of a leaf, the course of a river and its tributaries, the central nervous system of human beings, the ocean currents, and the routes of Internet traffic.

eciphering this common language, which connects the micro with the macro, and the external world with the internal, allows us to distinguish a pattern that influences the inanimate, biological, social, and cultural realms. It affects us continuously, almost unconsciously, and governs aspects as mundane as our movements through the city, and as personal as the symbolism of our dreams. Its essence lies in the way things flow along the path of least resistance.

My work processes entail a search into the ancestral and artisanal realms, but also into science, and how these seemingly opposing worlds can not only converge but also enrich each other, as I have observed in the laboratory. Like most, I hold a highly critical view of the moment we are experiencing as humanity, but I believe that collective artisanal processes combined with scientific knowledge interwoven with art are a way to continue seeking new networks, new answers, or lights to move forward.
