Armando De La Garza

Latin American visual artist who has been painting and drawing since the tender age of seven. Throughout his career, he has received various recognitions, awards, publications, and selections such as the Tamayo Biennial or the FEMSA Biennial.

He has mounted over 25 solo exhibitions and 40 group exhibitions in locations such as Sydney, Madrid, Hong Kong, Miami, Barcelona, Turin, Santiago de Chile, Vienna, San Francisco, or Mexico City. Through exquisite techniques of painting, drawing, sculpture, and objet d'art, Armando de la Garza offers a series of works that are part of a continuum that the artist has been working on for a long time: the formal insistence to show fragments of a creative process.

Symbolic forms that refer to transformation, development, evolution, and the human desire for fulfillment and sensory gratification. De la Garza manages to contextualize his plastic discourse and with great humility presents his statement: we are not made, we are becoming (non facto, in fieri).

His aesthetic serenely traverses perfectly distinguishable elements: faithful to his proposal, he starts from the natural to aspire to higher questions. Technically evolved, the author shows more skill and mastery of his gaze every day.

He accentuates his content to warn us, in a serene manner, about the future, about the passage of life, doing so from the perspective of tranquility, without stridency or unnecessary boasts, focused on his theme he proposes to us to expand conceptual horizons through his simple forms of strong symbolic charge. Armando de la Garza, in contemplating himself, contemplates us and alerts us to changes, mutations, eventualities, and our awareness of them.Download Curriculum
